Project Overview With funding from the Green Climate Fund, FAO Pakistan is implementing the "Transforming Indus Basin with Climate Resilient Agriculture and Water Management" project. The primary objectives include: Strengthening the country’s capacity to manage the impacts of climate change on agriculture and water. Promoting climate-adaptive technologies and practices through Farmer Field Schools (FFS). Integrating climate change adaptation into existing agricultural policies and programs. Position Overview: Gender Support Role Summary The Gender Support position will aid the implementation of gender, inclusion, and nutrition-sensitive activities within the project. The candidate will work closely with the project’s Technical Advisor and the International Gender Specialist, reporting directly to them. Key Responsibilities Gender Integration Support the integration of gender equality in climate-resilient agriculture and water management initiatives. Enhance women and youth empowerment by improving their access to post-harvest management, food processing, and income-generating activities. Training & Capacity Building Organize gender-responsive training programs for farmers, especially women, on climate resilience, sustainable practices, and nutrition-sensitive agriculture. Facilitate capacity-building initiatives for FAO staff, government officials, and local partners to incorporate gender-sensitive approaches. Coordination & Networking Coordinate the Gender and Social Inclusion Focal Points Network to ensure the integration of gender-responsive practices across the project components. Monitoring & Reporting Assist in updating and monitoring the Gender Action Plan (GAP) and ensure effective implementation. Ensure accurate documentation of gender-related activities, including progress reports for donors and stakeholders. Stakeholder Engagement Organize stakeholder meetings and workshops to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment within agriculture. Communication & Success Documentation Support FAO’s communication efforts by documenting success stories and achievements related to gender inclusion. Minimum Requirements Education A university degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Agriculture Science, or related fields. Experience A minimum of 5 years of experience in: Gender equality initiatives, Food security, nutrition, and capacity-building, Implementing Farmer Field Schools on nutrition-sensitive agriculture. Language Skills Proficiency in English (knowledge of local languages is desirable). Nationality: Must be a Pakistani national.
