Dietary Aide – Food & Nutrition is required


Position Summary

The Dietary Aide is responsible for upholding high standards of cleanliness in assigned work areas and ensuring careful handling of equipment and materials. The role also involves assisting in food service operations, maintaining sanitation, and supporting the overall efficiency of the dietary department.

Reports to: Director of Food and Nutrition


Key Responsibilities

Cleaning & Sanitation

Thoroughly cleans assigned areas according to the work schedule.

Ensures minimal china breakage and flatware loss.

Cleans and maintains the dish room and dish machine at the end of each shift.

Follows proper sanitization procedures, using correct chemicals for all cleaning tasks.

Food Service Support

Delivers and retrieves food carts from patient floors.

Runs late trays when needed and serves on tray lines as required.

Assists in preparing simple food items, such as making toast for breakfast.

Pours coffee and hot water for meal services.

Inventory & Supplies

Receives and stores incoming supplies from vendors, ensuring proper stock rotation and labeling.

Equipment Monitoring

Checks and records dish machine temperature gauges regularly.

Other Duties

Washes pots, pans, and utensils as assigned.

Posts daily menus on dining room boards.

Participates in training new personnel through the buddy system.

Confers with supervisors regarding assignment details.

Takes on additional duties as directed by the supervisor, including handling any emergencies or staffing shortages.


Compliance and Quality Standards

Adheres to Corporate Compliance regulations and promptly reports potential violations.

Demonstrates Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) principles and actively participates in customer service initiatives.

Maintains discretion and confidentiality with respect to sensitive information.


Education & Training

Ability to read, write, and follow directions (both written and verbal).

On-the-job training is provided, though prior kitchen experience is beneficial.


Experience

Familiarity with cleaning techniques and equipment handling.

Experience in simple food preparation and service tasks.

Knowledge of proper dishwashing and garbage disposal procedures is desirable.


Physical & Mental Demands

The role requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, and pushing throughout the shift.
